The first thing I start shopping for, when the weather starts to warm up, are hats. In Idaho, there are a ton of warm, sunny days in late Spring. The kind of days that call for a sweatshirt and shorts on the boat. Meaning 65 degrees, not 90 degrees. However, the UV index is still higher, and a hat is necessary. Maybe not for everyone, but I suffer from Melasma, and any form of sun takes it from a little tan to a dark brown. I am religious about sunscreen and wear it everyday, even in the winter.

Through the years, I have found that a hat helps immensely too. A couple of years ago, I went on a family vacation to Jamaica and didn’t wear my hats as religiously as I do now and by the end of the week my forehead was a dark spotted mess. Lesson learned. Since then, I have been almost militarily strict about my hat usage. Believe me, I would love to just throw my hair in a bun and head out on the boat with no worries in the world, but unfortunately that’s not going to happen anytime soon. I’ve been fortunate enough to try a multitude of hat brands and come across a lot that I love, for different reasons.
Last year, I also invested in a hat case for travel. Game changer!! No more worrying if your favorite hats are going to make it to your vacation, or back home, successfully!! And no more worrying about how to pack it in your suitcase. Not to mention, the carrying case is beyond cute!! For someone like me, that needs to wear hats in the sun, definitely a must have accessory. The case I’m linking is the exact one that I have. It also comes in a small and medium size.

And, yes, I know bucket hats are having a moment right now. I’m sorry but I just won’t be showcasing those off… they are not my thing. But you go girl, if they are your thing!! I wore one in one of my senior photos, and I vowed to never do that again. 🙂
Most of my favorite hats come from Lack of Color, Wyeth, and Janessa Leone. However, there are a number of hat brands that I have yet to try. Let me know your favorite hat brand in the the comments below!
